Cognitive Behaviour (therapy), is an action-orientated form of psychotherapy that assumes that unproductive, or unhelpful thinking patterns, cause unproductive behaviour, and undesired negative emotions
The cognitive approach to looking at people, helps us to realise how the quality of our thoughts impacts how we relate to our everyday situations and experiences. We gain crucial insights that allow us to understand human behaviour as a result

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a treatment approach that provides us with a way of understanding our experience of the world, enabling us to make changes if we need to.
The core assumptions of CBT are based on the assumption that the quality of our thoughts impact how we relate to our life’s experiences.
This means that the attitude and approach we take towards life, relationships and people, will influence the outcomes we experience throughout life.
We need to replace unhelpful patterns of thinking with useful ones.
The way in which we see or perceive things are rarely the way that they actually are.
